Dialup Services

Au Fait Communications offers unlimted interactive PPP dialup accounts. This is an easy economical way for residential users or home offices to connect to the internet. Once a PPP session is established, you can use all the internet tools (email, web browser, ftp, etc.) All dialup lines connect to our digital modems which support ISDN and analog connections up to 56K. Each account comes with a free email account.

This account is perfect for residential and small businesses that do not need a dedicated connection to the internet. This account is limited to a single user or a single machine. No bots, servers, or other automatic programs are allowed with this account. Concurrent logins are prohibited. (see our TOS for a complete listing of our Terms and Conditions of service.)

Configuring your computer for our services is simple. Au Fait will provide an installation CD-ROM. This CD-ROM contains with all the necessary Macintosh and Microsoft programs necessary for connecting to the Internet. See a complete listing of all the programs. For those users who do not feel comfortable with installing their own software, computer, we will come to the users home and personally install the software for a $25 installation fee.

Au Fait Communications is using Newsguy as its news source. The news groups are divided into two categories: general and restricted. The restricted news groups deal with adult themes. Both groups are password protected to provide parents control over which newsgroups their children can access.

We also support America Online's Bring Your Own Access and WebTV's OpenISP programs.

AOL.com America Online has a special program in addition to their normal access program. It is called Bring Your Own Access (BYOA). This program is for people who want to use AOL's content (Chat Rooms, Bulletin Boards, etc.) without using AOL's modems. This program is intended for those people who must make a long distance call to directly access AOL's network. Other users of this program are those people want access to AOL's content but who do not want to use AOL's network to access the internet.

After creating an account with Au Fait, contact AOL and tell them you want to be switched to their BOYA plan. You will be billed $9.95 a month directly by AOL. This is in addition to the payment to us for the internet connection.

WebTV has an OpenISP program. There are two groups of people who will find this program attractive: those people who are outside the local calling area of WebTV's modems and those who want to use both a computer and WebTV for internet access. WebTV will charge $9.95 in addition to our access fee.

Enrolling in this program is simple. Call Au Fait and set up a dialup account. We will help you configure your computer (if necessary) and give you the information that will be requested by Webtv. Then call Webtv and tell them you want to enroll in the OpenISP program. Give them the necessary information and they will configure your WebTV box.
